Netflix began implementing playback controls for Android users. The broadcast began testing this feature last year. Netflix will start testing the operating system controls for iOS and web applications soon.Netflix users on Android can now stream movies and TV shows at four different speeds for slow and fast viewing. The Verge has reported that this feature is not yet available in India, but Netflix confirmed that it started rolling out today and will reach all users worldwide in the coming weeks. With new operating speeds, Netflix users can stream at slower speeds of 0.5x or 0.75x and faster speeds of 1.25x or 1.5x.
However, this feature will be optional for Netflix users.Playback controls must be activated manually for every address Netflix users see. Even if they enable it with an address, for the next address they will have to activate the playback controls again, which is quite logical.
Netflix told The Verge that it corrected “launch faster and slower.” The company also said it takes creators into account that it has made operating speed controls optional for each title.Last year, when Netflix started testing playback controls, the actors spoke out against it, saying that service providers shouldn’t interfere with the way content is displayed to viewers.
Netflix regularly tests new features among specific users before rolling out all users. With the controls also running, the company tested it for a few months and released it based on user feedback and demand.
