Amazon has finally set a release date for Crucible, a replacement hero-based third-person shooter that seems to blend online battle arena games like Smite and arena-shooters like Overwatch, also as some player-versus-environment mechanics mixed in.
The release comes years after Amazon first announced it had been performing on Crucible at Twitchcon 2016. The game, which was shown off during a new trailer today, are going to be out starting on May 20 and can be available for free of charge on Steam.
“In Crucible, every match is different, and players’ choices really matter,” Christoph Hartmann, vp Amazon Games, said Tuesday during a statement. “Every opponent, team, and mode poses unique dangers, and no two matches are an equivalent , so players must constantly adapt to everything the planet and therefore the other teams throw at them. We’re excited for players to hitch the hunt in only a few of weeks, and that we can’t wait to listen to what they consider it.”
Crucible will hope to compete with similar free-to-play shooters like Fortnite, Apex Legends and Call of Duty: Warzone when it launches on PC later this month.V
