Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 will only support NavIC | How NavIC is it Different from GPS?

What is NavIC?

For India through the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), occupation is a navigation service developed in India. We are all familiar with the Global Positioning System or GPS and have been using it for geographical services for years. While the GPS was developed by the US government and is available for use worldwide, the NavIC is currently India-specific and extends only 1,500 meters across the country.

Why was it newly created?

Newark was developed by ISRO not only for civilian use but also for improved military accuracy for military operations. The US government does not provide GPS sensitive information to other countries that have given birth to NavIC. In 1999, when Pakistani troops took power in Kargil, India contacted the United States to obtain GPS data from the region and the request was denied. This made India realize the importance of an indigenous satellite navigation system that gave birth to the duck.

How does NavIC work?

For any reference location, any type of location-based service requires your device to communicate with the satellite in orbit. There are many frequency bands that can be used for this communication. GPS, for example, uses the ‘L’ band – L1 and L5 to be specific. These bands are nothing but a means for traveling on signals, just like the WiFi signals traveling on your router with 2.4GHz or 5GHz bands.

NavIC is a dual-band GNS system that uses ‘L’ as well as ‘S’ band. It uses the L5 band for civilian use, while the ‘S’ band is limited to military use cases. It has seven satellites, 6 of which are accessible via the L5 band. For further accuracy, ISRO plans to launch a total of 11 satellites in orbit. There are 24 satellites in GPS, covering the entire earth.

How is the NavIC different from GPS?

GPS uses something known as a geosynchronous satellite whose position is not determined in relation to a particular location on Earth. On the other hand, Novak has recently relied on geological satellites, whose locations are determined in relation to a particular location, which in this case is India. The satellites move behind the orbit of the Earth and are therefore always in a stable position above the Earth’s surface. Although it is already more profitable, geographical satellites are located in the higher orbit, meaning there are fewer interruptions but weaker indicators.

Is NavIC Better Than GPS?

Of course, yes NavIC can go up to 5-10 meters accuracy while GPS is generally considered to be up to 20 meters accuracy. Not only the accuracy but also the NavIC is called Fast Latch Time, which is technically called Time to First Fix (TTFF). This means that with dense buildings and barriers, dense urban areas can detect your precise location faster than GPS.

What are some other uses of NavIC?

In addition to better location tracking and geographical services, the Pak NavIC can be used for air and maritime navigation, disaster management, fleet management, voice management and more.

Does the NavIC need additional hardware to work?

Yes, the NavIC needs a dedicated dual GNSS module that has support for the L5 band to work. It can either be integrated with the SoC itself, or manufacturers may decide to add a separate chip that enables it.

Will NavIC enable software updates via larger phones?

Unfortunately, this is not possible because Nivek requires dedicated hardware that cannot be enabled through OTA updates.

Which chipsets currently support NavIC?

At the time of writing, Snapdragon 720G comes with official support for SnapDragon 765, SnapDragon 662 and SnapDragon 460 NavIC. Although Snapdragon 865 has the necessary hardware, it needs a firmware upgrade to help navigate, which will roll out in April this year. It just means that these chips have integrated support for Novak.

Which phones do you support for boats?

Although Realm has claimed to be working on the Realm X50 Pro 5G, it is complicated and does not work all the time. Technical support should come in full with Qualcomm’s firmware in April. Both Realm and Xiaomi are expected to launch the device soon with the Snapdragon 720G chipset and will be one of the first devices to officially support the occupation.
