The latest release of the Black Shark series of games for smartphones, Black Shark 3S, was launched in China two days ago. Surprisingly, although it does have some hardware updates, the phone doesn’t come with Snapdragon 865 Plus, unlike what was expected previously.
Black Shark 3S still has a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen similar to its siblings, but now it has a 120Hz refresh rate plus a 90Hz mode. As for the hardware, the phone also features the same Snapdragon 865 chipset, and it is now paired with 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 with a capacity of up to 512 GB. By comparison, Black Shark 3 and Pro variant offer support for LPDDR4 and UFS 3.0.
Another addition included in the Black Shark 3S is the latest OS for the brand JOYUI12, which is based on Android 10. In addition to the various software improvements included in the new version, the exceptionally new screen mirroring feature that gives you lets you send the phone screen to the computer screen via USB- C. This mode will run at 60fps, has a latency of 40ms, and will also allow you to play with the mouse and keyboard.
Other than that, everything else, including camera setup, is pretty much like the ones in the regular and Pro version of Black Shark 3. Like the unprofessional variant, the 3S lacks mechanical shoulder buttons or air triggers but hey, at least a headphone jack The head is still available.
The new Black Shark 3S model will be available in two colors: Skyfall Black and Crystal Blue, and will go on sale in China from August 4, 2020. The price of the device is CNY3999 (RM2,425) for 12GB / 128GB, 4,299 Chinese Yuan (RM2,606) for 12GB / 256GB, 4,799 Chinese Yuan (RM2,910) to configure 12GB / 512GB. There is no news about launching in Malaysia at the moment.
