Samsung Galaxy Z Flip: 8 must try features

samsung galaxy z flip

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip phone went on sale on Friday, just days after the Samsung Unpacked event was officially announced in San Francisco. Motorola Roger came out a week later. This is another foldable screen clamshell phone. Razer and Galaxy Z Flip have a lot in common, but they are also very different phones. Together they represent one of the biggest design changes to hit the phone in years.

If you’re lucky enough to get your hands on the shiny new Galaxy Z platform, the 1.1-inch tablet has amazing features such as an external display and flex mode. But you do have some settings on Android 10 that you can make the Z Philippe even better, especially for better unilateral use.

Take a second to finish your Galaxy Z flip, then take a moment to try these features.

Samsung Galaxy Z flip fingerprint sensor for scrolling wheel

The Galaxy Z Flip requests the use of one hand. And even though Samsung’s OneU2 interface makes it easy to interact with buttons and windows, getting to the top of the screen for notifications can still be a cause of the trouble. Fortunately, there is an Android setting that turns the fingerprint reader into a capable scroll wheel on the sides of the phone to pull the notification drawer.

To turn on this feature:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap on Advanced Features.
  3. Choose Tricks and Hints.
  4. Turn on the finger sensor gesture slider button.

When your phone is open, drag your finger from the top of the fingerprint sensor down to pull the notification drawer. Do the same thing a second time to display the control panel. Swipe the sensor to close the panel and drawer.

Take a selfie with the power button

With Z flip off, you can double-tap the power button to open an external camera for a selfie. The small screen size of the 1.1-inch tablet will show a live preview of the crop.

To take a picture, either press the volume button or lift the palm of your hand on the camera to trigger the camera timer and countdown.

Specialized in Itty-Bitty external display

In addition to allowing you to take selfies when the phone is turned off, there are other uses for small external displays. Tap the power button to show the date, time, and battery status. Swipe your finger to the right to display notifications. Tap any icon to see a small section of the notification. If your phone is charging, the battery will show the percentage of performance and you estimate how long it will take for your phone to be fully charged.

Flex mode converts Samsung Galaxy Z flip to a baby laptop

The Galaxy Z Philippe is tough enough to stay open in any situation. When your phone is half-open, Samsung has improved some apps to take advantage of the display. For example, when you open the YouTube app in flex mode, your video will play in the top half of the screen, while comments will appear below.

Other ways to use flex mode are:

  • Make a Google Duo video call.
  • Like the trackpad, scroll through the photos in the Gallery app at the bottom of the screen.
  • Take a selfie with no selfies.
  • Use as a tripod to take photos, videos, and hyper lips.

Split Galaxy Z flip screen app

Its length, 6.7-inch screen with 21: 9 aspect ratio, split-screen Android app, is perfect for displaying one app over another.

  1. Swipe to the Home screen to go to the Recent Apps view, or tap on the Recent Apps button from the navigation bar.
  2. Select the app you want to appear above and press and hold the app icon.
  3. A menu will appear after a moment.
  4. Tap Open in the split-screen.
  5. Next, select the second app you want to see at the bottom.
  6. Once you are in split-screen mode, you can press the divider bar and resize it to how much room each app has.

Enable gestures for better use with one hand

I found with the Android Traditional Android navigation bar trading for gestures that the Z Flip is easy to use unilaterally.

To enable gestures:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap on the display.
  3. Select the navigation bar.
  4. Next, select fullscreen gestures.

To use gestures, swipe down from the bottom of the screen to go home. Swipe up and hold to see recent apps. And swipe to the right or left of the screen to go back.
