Xiaomi made a new software update for its budget Redmi 7A smartphone for the last year. The latest device software update brings the August 2020 Security Patch for Android. However, its changelog does not mention any newly added features. The update is said to be being made for users living in Russia, but it will soon be available for other regions as well.
The latest update includes software build version v188.8.131.52.QCMINXM and firmware size is around 1.6GB. The device runs the latest Android 10 operating system, with a dedicated MIUI interface on top. The company is releasing new updates via OTA (Over the Air) in a phased manner. Therefore, it may take some time to gradually reach all Redmi 7A units. According to the changelog in Android Bulletin, the August 2020 security patch hosts a security bug. It mentions improvements for 10 high vulnerabilities in the framework architecture and 4 high issues in the system component. One of these drawbacks could be exploiting smartphone data security.
Redmi 7A features and specifications
The Redmi 7A smartphone made its debut in May last year. It has a 5.45-inch IPS LCD screen with HD + resolution. The device also has a single camera setup at the back, including a 12MP primary sensor with f / 2.2 aperture. The Redmi 7A has Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 SoC paired with the Adreno 505 GPU.
